SABBATHICAL

This,
after a week’s labor,
is a day of rest
where I can consider
all that has occurred
and plan next steps.

Reflection and recollection
are the order of the day
as I assess the then
and consider the now.

It is a time
for sleepy thoughts
and calm caretaking.
All that has happened
will be pulled apart
and put back together
into scrapbooks
and file folders.

It is time to take a break
to revise.
To renew
and become
something else again.

This is a day
of rest-
itution
and revenge.
