TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES

I’m becoming increasingly thoughtful
about the state of humanity.
Well, not thoughtful
so much as enraged
and it’s not humanity
I’ve been pondering exactly
quite so much as traffic.

Why can’t people stay out of my fucking way?
Is there no way
for these people
(and for the purpose of this conversation,
please translate “people”
as “ASSHOLES!”)
to understand
the rules of the road?
Really, they are not much different
than that Golden one.

Do unto others
AS you’d have them do unto you,
not BEFORE
and not WITH or BETWEEN
– though I’m not too sure what that would even mean.

Why can’t they be respectful of me
and keep away from me when I’m traveling?
Is that really too much to ask?
All I want, really,
is unimpeded travel
so I can get
wherever I want
instantaneously
without people slowing me down.

There must be a way
and teleportation,
I’m told,
is still months from public release
and so I remain dependent
on the rest of you
to give me my space
and allow me passage.
