Fanfare for the Performance

History will reflect poorly on this show.
The reviewers will not know
what to make
of the self-reflective nature of the words
or the hyper-critical tone of the narrator
who surely could have spent more time on the content
and less on the abuse
of himself,
others, the audience
and history itself.

The stuttering
the sexism
the stagnancy of theme
and senselessness in story,
all will serve the gods of entertainment quite poorly.
The show, simply put,
will suck.

History will not speak well
of this performance
for history has high standards
and quick judgments that are slow to change
and there’s every reason for you to get up in the middle
and go in with your life
but keep this in mind:
you get what you pay for.
