by the end of the hall
is the Office
that formerly held
The Comics Code Authority.
I know.
I was there
once.

It was a place of strong decisions
and quiet reflection.
It was the home of assessment
of the finest form
the States have ever produced.
It was electric.
It is gone now.
Such fine things
such noble bodies
cannot always last
in this wretched world.

But it was here,
then.
This is where
The Comics Code Authority thrived.
I know.
I was there.
