In a Wood

We should talk.
Your momma’s worried about you.
Your sisters are worried about you.
Even your brothers are worried
– and they don’t care about nothing.

You’ve been silent too long.
So that Irish girl left;
we get it.
It’s rough.
We all cared
but what have you done?

Not a single tear shed.
You’re feeling it,
you say,
but if you don’t express it
it’s trees in a wood,
damnit.
Nothing’s happening.

We’re here for you
– all of us –
but you have to say something.

You’ve been silent too long, kid.
It’s clear you’re hurting.
You’ve gotta get in the game.
