For my doctor’s appointment
they told me to come 15 minutes early
presumably so I could do whatever necessary paperwork
they might have for me
and then they sent me links online
to do paperwork in advance.

This is a doctor I’ve been going to for years
so I doubted there would be additional things to sign.
Still, as I am a good little follower of rules,
I arrived fifteen minutes early
to find no one behind the desk
at my doctor’s office.

I stood waiting by the desk
for about fifteen minutes
until someone came by
just to tell me to have a seat.
I didn’t even give my name to check in!

I got called in for my appointment like
two minutes later.
Just about on time.

I guess I’m kind of thankful
that my doctor was basically prompt
for my recent visit
and that overall
I’m still healthy.
